Smooth Thing

I know it is winter and cold out, but we are addicted to smoothies in our house right now.  Not only are these blended beverages creamy and delicious, but have lent me a hiding place for all things healthy.  Kade, who won't even look at a vegetable, cheers in delight when he hears the blender running.  "Smoodie! Yay!" Little does he know that the cool froggy-green colored shakes get their hue from *gasp* kale... and the magic powder he gets to sprinkle in his strawberry mango smoothie is probiotic!
Smoothies always become a staple when I hit the diet track.  I use them to replace one meal a day and I'd have to say that they are sometimes the best meal I eat that day (especially when they have chocolate in them).
I don't measure ingredients very often, or ever, so I'll start paying attention this week and I'll post some recipes soon.

Girly Girl

I've  been looking for the perfect new pair of shoes and discovered this  during my search.  I love it, if only they weren't $110.  How cool would it be though to design your own shoes?

I'm also loving Hydraheart designs on etsy (they're even vegan):

For Bill and I, this will be our sixth Valentine's Day.  Here's (http://www.hyeholde.com/) where we spent our first Vday and had our wedding.

Love and Stew

I am so in love with my boys.  All three of them.  River sometimes rests in my arms so calmly, staring at my face with his dark blue eyes.  He is so peaceful.  I can't help but hold him all day.  Kade is like a little man.  We had to trek through piles of snow to get to breakfast this morning and he looked so adult with his hands in the pockets of his miniature peacoat.  He is so full of joy and wonder.  And Bill continues to amaze me as a father and husband.  When the plow failed to show, he shoveled our entire road so he could get out to the store to buy diapers.

Bill's mom left yesterday, concluding her week-long visit.  It was so nice to have help when Bill went back to work.  Kade loved having Grammie's attention, and I loved eating Grammie's dinners.  She was even sweet enough to try her hand at vegan food and it was delicious!!  My favorite was the stew she made the day before she left: kale, white beans, and veggie sausage.  I'll definitely be making that again!  We'll miss you Grammie, see you soon.
